"Sure I know of a dungeon nearby," said the old dwarf, dipping into his sack of goat jerky. "Less than a league away, more gold and silver than any twenty men could take away. Crowns, robes, scrolls, all the rich stuff. Never been looted, neither. A tomb of 143 kings and queens of Men and everything they once valued in their lives."
Glim's eyes goggled. "Would you tell me where it is, Creegan?" The gnome asked the dwarf.
"Tell you? You? Well, I'll tell you, but then you have to promise to outfit your expedition here at my shop and not across the way at Grumblebelly's. There's two catches: One, it's right in the middle of the city, under the Red Church, guarded by 24 Todeswache, who you know well."
Glim's hand went instinctively to the split in his ear where a Todeswache man-at-arms had sliced him last year when he had almost caught Glim cutting purses. "What's the second catch?"
"Two, I can't fence any of it for you. Too risky. Everyone knows the heraldry; everyone remembers their names."
It was too late. Glim wasn't listening any more. He was already envisioning an epic tomb-robbing the bards would sing about for ages.
It looks awesome! Are you into warhammer/40k at all? Those crypts look straight outta that universe
ReplyDeleteNo... I'm sorry. I don't have the patience to play elaborate wargames. RISK is about my limit.
ReplyDeleteLol for sure. The most fun about tabletop gaming is painting minis and creating terrain pieces. Selling that stuff on eBay can get you a nice little bit of beer money too!
